1. Is the UltimaCalc help file available on line?

If you wish to view the help pages on line, click on the 'Pages from the Manual' navigation button tha you will find on every page, and choose the appropriate topic on that page. Some of the main web site pages also link to a help file page. However, when you are using UltimaCalc, all it takes is to hit the F1 key to open the relevant help page.
The online pages are on the web site mainly for you to browse before downloading. You can also download the help files from the downloads page, if you would like to view them offline and have a slow connection to the Internet.

2. Will I have to pay for updates?

The price you pay for UltimaCalc covers all future updates to the current version v3. These updates will consist of small improvements and bug fixes. We will charge for upgrades to v4 versions. However, a major version change represents many significant changes in the capabilities of the product. None are planned in the foreseeable future. You can easily check whether the version you use is up to date by clicking on the menu item Help / Check for Updates.

3. How much text can I type into the input window?

The limit is 30,000 characters. If you need to, you can enlarge the input window by dragging its sides or corners. Note that widening the window may increase the precision of the display if the precision is set to 'Automatic'.

4. Are there any samples I can look at?

Yes. If you look in the folder where you installed UltimaCalc, you will find a folder of sample calculations, charts, and plots. You can open these by using the Open item in the File menu.

5. Why do some numbers end in a decimal point?

This is to indicate that even though the number looks as if it might be an integer, it is in fact not an integer.

6. How do I get rid of the data markers in charts or plots?

If you do not want the markers to be shown, select the style 'None' in the 'Markers' tab in the plot options window.

7. How to add hatching on pie charts?

We regret that this facility is not yet implemented.

8. All the numbers come out as 0.

It seems that you are using commas in large numbers. UltimaCalc will treat 1,000 not as one thousand but as two separate numbers, 1 followed by 000 which is just 0. The first number, 1, will be ignored, giving a result of 0 not 1000.

Did you look at UltimaCalc's Help? Pressing F1 in UltimaCalc will open the Help page most relevant to the currently active UltimaCalc window. And you can also view the Help pages on this web site. These have the same content, though the format has been modified to match the rest of this site.
