Most of UltimaCalc's special tool windows allow you to save calculation data for future reference. UltimaCalc also allows you to choose which character to use for the decimal point. This provides an opportunity for confusion, as the decimal point character might be changed after a file is saved.

To maintain consistency, UltimaCalc converts decimal point characters to periods (dots) when a data file is written, and converts the periods back to the currently used decimal point character when the file is read back in.

This usually works well. However, when a comma is used to represent decimal points, UltimaCalc might not be able to decide whether the comma does indeed represent a decimal point, or whether it is in fact intended to be a comma. This a particular problem when reading arguments to a function.

UltimaCalc tries to make intelligent decisions. However, if it really cannot decide, it will give up and ask you what you meant, as shown in the image above. In this example, the decimal point has been set to be a comma, and UltimaCalc is not sure whether the expression supplied to the third argument represents one argument or two. The problem character is shown as a question mark.
