Overview of Features
UltimaCalc has a vast range of features:
- It is very accurate. Most calculations are done to very high precision.
- It can handle a huge range of numbers.
- Enter expressions in mathematical (algebraic) form.
- A wide range of mathematical functions, and you can define your own functions, too.
- Plot functions or curves in two dimensions, with multiple plots.
- Automatically log calculations to a file.
- Meaningful error messages.
- Work with prime numbers, up to the first 200 million of them.
- User-defined variables and constants.
- Assignment operator and evaluation of multiple expressions.
- Solution of simultaneous linear equations.
- Solution of simultaneous non-linear equations.
- Calculate the parameters of an expression that minimise its value.
- Manipulate algebraic expressions (UltimaCalc Professional only)
- Display results in hexadecimal or as rational numbers (fractions).
- Definite integrals: integrate an expression over a range.
- Calculate the roots of polynomials.
- Solve triangles.
- Regression – linear, polynomial, multivariate, absolute deviation, non-linear.
- Time and Date – from 4 AD (or earlier) to the distant future.
- Angles in minutes and seconds as well as in degrees and radians.
- Create charts – bar charts, line charts, pie charts.
- Navigational calculations, for great circles and rhumb lines.
- Percentages.
- Choice between several view modes.
- Handy shortcut keys.
Just enter the expression you want evaluated into the large window, and press the 'Enter' key. The result will be shown in the smaller window.
If there was a problem with evaluating the expression, a message will appear, explaining it. Message balloons are used throughout the program. These often disappear automatically, but sometimes they do not. To get rid of a message balloon, click on it.
